hwaa.....atlast..our 2nd year on studying at The One Academy (hehee...sajeer put the hyperlink.. =p) finished!.. =D man..the time pass by, feels soo fast...

a lot of things happened during this term....started from break down mood for photography class 'cus Wei Meng keep rejecting my final project proposed idea...but finally she agreed with my 4th idea....and the final result is actually not that bad...thx to my classmates who cheer me up during the photo shoot session!hahaa..thx guys......ngg........i mean girls..... =p

right..than after that...my first colourful design was BORN!!...omg....its so hard to do colour combination i tell u..-__-"....ok..im talking about the F&N redesign website.....read my previous post for more detail...the struggle of me choosing multiple colour from the colour pellet on my sidebar-photoshop-interface.....

next...video class...having trip down to Malacca...with whole class+armed with heavy-duty video equipment..........fit in 1 car....0.0.......chen got the story of it if u interested can found here....

okay...the last one...which is i really looking forward in it is......desig[NERD] website!...xD... my class original member decided to create our own online portfolio website...called desig[NERD] as the domain...and each of us having our own sub domain....this hols gonna full of designing interface for the domain and individual sub domain.....i hope..laziness go away-__-.....woohuuu....updates about it later ya!....

Last week got a small presentation on our website re-design project....with a guest lecturer Wai Khong came in to give us his opinion on the design and all.....so for me i got a few suggestion on how to improve on my design.....which is...

- really need a box as a background?....or try on replacing it with an F&N logo shape...
- background image too messy...tone down a bit...
- content design boring...too common...nothing special...wasted xp
- menu on the right side is not a good idea...not really practical way in designing a website arrangement...
- soda can colour too dirty...make it lighter....
- main page typo is good....but must telling something...not just show design...

Ok...and than based on that suggestion i came up with this layout...

After a few rounds of critic sessions, I've come up with this layout as the home page...

Some of the change that i made from the previous version are: background colour more lighter and some other colour corrections, soda can design, company logo not hiding anymore (sir, really I'm not intended to hide it in the previous version... f(-__-"), main menu and sub menu move to above the fold with adding a little design on it to make it not look boring.....

Okay, that's it for now....will post another page as soon as possible...or some updates version....

why's first colourful design... =D

Okay, i got a client...which is required me to re-design their current website...its about drink...yea its F&N Malaysia's website ^^....So before starting the design process i did some research about the competitors as you see in my previous blog and also their current website, list of products, and some other important stuff to look at...i found out this few key words: refreshing, energy, youth, lifestyle, colourful, fun, happy to start of with as my guide line....

Start of the design process with some sketches, roughly draft out the grid line and i come up with this final layout digital version...

Ok, that's not the final layout that i come up with until Mr.Chong commented on it...its too boxy, certain stuff dunno what they will do for the layout, no text, and the lack of concept behind....i admit that, because this is just the trail version, sir.. f(^^"...

So this is the first actual layout that i have...but still need to think about the tag line....hmmm...

Ahahahahhh...its so colourful! ^^...yea because that's one of the identity of this company....colourful....so, yea........................Actually its still not that colourful enough as what the first impression of the title of this post tell...

The colourful stuff based on the Coca-Cola's wave, representing the freshness it can bring to you and for the colour its the combination of the colour that you can found in their brands (Coca-Cola, F&N Fun Flavours, 100 Plus, Seasons, Fruit Tree)....the blank can represent the company, so all those brands (a.k.a colourful stuff) combine under one company, F&N Coca-Cola (M) Sdn Bhd. (a.k.a can)...And you may also noticed that the layout has a frame but suddenly on the left hand side the colourful stuff go out of the box...it actually did on purpose, which is...this products will give you more that what you expected from a beverage...it give you a "break free" kind of refreshing.......

Not a very good overall website, because of the navigation...abit confusing at first time...but its using a nice typography arrangement....Its easy to read, and background also play an important role in leading our eyes to browse the page....

This website for Studio Output is another example of a goo usage of typography...all the text are align to the left making it all looks constant....Beside that, they also highlight the important content or message, with the different size to the font and also the font weight...different colour...and or highlight it with some glow (for roll over fx)....making it clear with the hierarchy.....

For this page....white colour for the title and also header...blue for content..

Header still white, content orange....its because in different page level with the previous picture....and some glowing fx for the mouse roll over.......Hierarchy by using different font size....

Inside page (the real content...) even using different colour for the background...depends on the project itself.....

Website that only has text inside...purely typography.....This website - Matafuka - is an online portfolio for a design company...or someone?....to showcase their work online...more to the collection of link (port) to the work itself.....

This unique arrangement of text is really catch the eyes....because of the blank-pure-plain-white background...and took a large area some more...its kinda give some contrast to the content itself, which is only take a small part of the overall layout...

A website for a design company called Treibhaus Wien is using a simple typography arrangement but still can tell the information clearly and yes still looks interesting...One of the elements that catch my attention is the clever use of hierarchy.....

As you can see, the very left-end line is reserved only for a title...and than after that indent a bit inside (to the right) is for a main menu navigation, after that sub menu......and so on....And one more thing, for the header of each segments, they use a simple icon...which is this []...to give more attention for people to it, beside of the normally used method font weight aka bold....

5 different brands to suit 5 different situations......Coca-Cola, as everyone know, this brand is one of the most famous beverage in the world...the unique flavour give you the freshness inside......F&N Fun Flavours, best serve for your family gathering, offering 10 different flavours will satisfied all the family members...who have personally different favorite flavours......100 Plus, for you who are active in everyday life, replace essential electrolytes in your body and give an extra energy you lost on your activities.....Seasons, 11 different flavours that really close to the Asian people's daily life.....Fruit Tree, natural fruit drinks...

Handling 5 different brands in 1 company is not an easy task...Its more to how to combine the difference among the 5 brands, but yet still showing the uniqueness of each brands.......But not only that, the company profile should be the most priority here in the website...

Some of the stuff from their current website still remain, such as; about, business, contact us...and some others..which is i think not necessary important...are deleted, such as; corporate culture, press release and events (together combine in news section)......To make the overall content more solid and attractive, i also introduce some new sections, which is; news (reports and also upcoming events), entertainments (tv ads, download stuff, celebrity endorsements, games..), and FAQ (for people want to comments about the company, products, or website)....

Track back of what i said earlier, the design itself should mainly reflecting the refreshing feeling...because it can give some suggestion in time when you thirst to buy the products....That's one of the goal of doing this new website anyway: increase selling rates.....

My client for the project is a website of F&N Coca-Cola (M) Sdn Bhd. this company basicly serve a beverage....well known brands such as Coca-cola, F&N, 100plus, etc....and i have to redesign their website, but still must retain the corporate identity, necessary informations, and adding some missing important elements....

Current website....its not that bad actually, its just that they more concentrate for the company/ investor user rather than consumer user....I can see the point here why they do it in this way, its clearly showing that as the "mother" website, it serve as a company establishing website, to build reputation and all...You can tell it by looking at the menu and submenu they have, its all about the company's self esteem...and they provide the link to the rest of the products they have....but its better for them to give just a simple clue for the products they have, about the brands, nutritions, that kinda stuff....

By analysing some of the competitors will get much more clearer idea of how to improve this website....lets see......

Start of with Gatorade...an energy drink...Contradict with F&N's website, this one is more to the consumer-based website...they provide so much information of how people NEED they products to replace the missing ion and liquid in our body as we do even an everyday-life activity.....Its a good way though...its quite convincing and some more supported with the fact from their scientist to prove it....My favorit page from this website is "The Lab: Gatorade Sport Science Institute" page....bellow is the screen shot....

From this page you can explore their laboratory....just for fun...and at the same time you can get the rough idea of how this company working environments, how clean, etc. without they telling you with the boring text of paragraph....but history about them? also got...Further, they have showing a famous people who use their products, celebrity endorsement....They also provide the user with something to download...with it, they actually give an image of "giving presents" for those who coming to visit their website....Again, about the image in consumer's point of view...

Next its Mountain Dew....Fully Flash website....as you can expect it lots of animations transitions....Just like Gatorade, this website also a consumer-based...but instead of having a lot of informations about the scientist proven facts, they fully utilise the flash site they have to give more user experience exploring they website...and some more have game!TRANSFORMERS xD ...interesting.....The rest is almost the same concept with Gatorade, offering something to download, celebrity endorsement, history....

Last....Pepsi...this famous brand also have a website more to the consumer-based...have a lot of entertainment and music...This website is quite unique for me because to handle that much informations they have, they specially build another website to handle each informations...so it will go back and forth between those website.....but....this website is nice..and the rest of the website (which is the one who handle the informations) is just another normal kinda layout..Its ok, but just dont look consistent and under one family....

So what i get from this analysis is out there more of those other famous brands are giving priority to a consumer rather than an investor....Giving more attention to the consumer is another way to increase the popularity or the company's self esteem...Giving merchandise, wallpaper to download, or music will make the consumer "take" the brand itself to their life....

At the first time you go to this website you will notice that they will ask you "where are you?" place...to have an idea of what content that suitable to your location....yes..this is a obviously an international-known brand....Quiksilver is a brand that mostly ofering a products that related to a teenage-life (t-shirs, denims, and all) with the extreme sports (skateboard, surf, and all)...

This website..looking from its content..is so well organize...as i told tou before it even separating their products based on where the users are...so the users wont encounter the "sorry this products not available in your area" page...which is very annoying....All the menu that you need to access to their products is located in the top of every page...using drop-down menu to make it simple...yet effective way to save a space in overall design...and the user will easily get what they want..simply just by one...or two clicks away...Eventhough its a boxy kind of layout...but still it not static...because of the image that keep on changing every few seconds...but unfortunately its only for the main menu...Another things that good about this website's main menu is it has a direct link to the promotional item by them...so that we will never get out-dated in term of they new products...

Typography...fonts quite easy too read...not to big, not too small...but they got 1 fatal mistake, on the gallery page some part of the text are overlaping with the picture..totally cannot read.. -____-" hope they fix it sooner....

Basicly they devide the page in to two part...top and bottom...where they put all the content on the bottom part...and the supporting image as well as the menu logo and all that stuff on the top part..

One of my favorit part that atract me in a website is if they have a playlist on it...to suit the mood when you go to their page...and this website DO have a playlist inside...but again.....error.....the text overlaping (again!) with the flash music player image....man.. -___-

Okay...starting our lesson of photography class...got assignment which is creating an image using scanner..aka scanogram....because that is the first lesson, so we not raelly understand how to use our camera...that's why she asked us to use scanner....

Now..a bit serious...one fact that i love from this scanogram method is the really small depth-of-field...covered in the focus area...it produce a unique images....more similar to the macro photography....but not really the same also....

Here are my work doing scanogram method...my camera lens..and a walkman...

The double coating glass in the lens creating a colour in the end result...actually i'm not realize its going to be that obvious the colour.....

See..in this image you can tell how small the DoF in the image creating with scanner.....this walkman looks abit like a compact camera in some point...nah, nolahh..

Small DoF...no prespective...un-natural lighting...characteristic of a scanogram image..

Another template-based kind of website...for MTV...but eventhough its a boxy type of website, it still manage to give the impression of MTV's characteristic...fluid and dynamic, to suit the music and celebrity trend in one particular time...by doing the ramdomize background every time you visit another page....that's one of the point will attract user to surf their website...

..Thats the good point about that...

Theres also a bad point for that..well at least for me..which is....sometimes the background graphic too much -__-....It makes it too blend with the important content..distracting...

As you can see the example from 2 different page got 2 different background...

Another good points for this site..to make a more dynamic experience for user when browsing this site is...the alphabetical list to find an artist....theres a lot of artist out there now, and grouping them based on their initial in one of the way to make it easier to organize...

Nikon is one of the leading company in digital imaging in the world..Their website, here in Malaysia, also quite interesting and organize...and the most imprtantly...user friendly...basicly they use the same layout concept for other region, even for the global site...They do this way to suit the broad range of their target audiance..start from early teenagers (who like to take the snapshots of their friends for fun) until those adults (who really dedicated their life for professional photography)...Even when the first time visiting this website, i think people wont get confuse...And also user will get what they wat easily..ony have 3 level of pages...Still dont want bother to click?..use the search facility on top there...

We will easily locate the navigational drop-down menu buttons..i think because of the small icon next to it..and also the font weight..its bold... 0.0

In general, they using 3 types of layout..1st you can find in the Home Page and Products..which is contain 2 columns, with the one on the left showing more spacific

and detail info and on the right is more like a "shortcut" for you to easy access on to their products...

Okay, the next layout is when you go deeper inside the products page..and you'll have something like this (see pic below..) For this 2nd layout, it has 3 main area, which is pictures of the product from many angle, general information (price, kit lens, brochures, etc..), and the specific informations (main features, tech specs, related products, ,etc...)

Okay..back from a wonderful term break...a lot of new things to come! Since the 1st week..we got a lot of assignment to do^^""

Start Monday with web design 2 -tutorials- class..test...ok its not a strassful test btw...but more to the re-view back with all those stuff that we learn from last term web design 1..designing a page, puttin' contents, slicing pages, and bulid the html using dreamweaver...but, the thing is we given only 2 hours to finish all that!!...kiddin', they let us finish it at home..and submit it this thursday..hehee.. =D

Next..Tuesday....photography class...yeaay!at last..ahahahah xD Our first class is basicly talking about "the history of photography"..type of camera from the clasic until the most canggih one...owh yea!and we also have a chance to experience using a large format camera...yea its LARGE FORMAT CAMERA xD

*One of my photography book also does said that "If you ever get a chance to use one (large format camera), even for a few hours, it is an exparience not to be pass up."

For you who dont know how does it looks like...it looks like the picture bellow..

Ok..after that, Wednesday...digital video...sounds like fun...and stressfull.. ^^" I dont know, meybe because its new to me..hope that some of my knowledge in photography can help me survive in this class also..yesterday Kenny only talk about the "role" in the project (such as; producer, director, DoP, and all...) and sharing about his experience in this video world..

And than, still on the same day...consumer behaviour and marketing class...not much to say...but it end a bit late..the class untill 9.30pm..gosh....

Last but not least...Thursday..web design 2 -lecture-...i never thought this class will be so much fun ^^ a lot of sharing about design and web world that i never think about before...Looking forward to the next class.. =)

navigation for a personal portfolio website

Analiyse a website for designer called BetaClan (Danny Kamhaji). This analyse i will mainly focus on the website's content planing and navigation.

This website devided into 5 sections.. The 1st is a main page, where all the things started. As you can see in the screenshot below, the navigation type is using flash animation to add on some rollover animation.

The design itself is looks like a map of a field, that have a sections sections in it, each section represent each page, for example see the screenshot below..

This screenshotshowing you the rollover fx.. It will have something popup from the ground to indicate the page inside, and the next screenshot will show you the exapmple of the page inside..

Ok, enough talking about design, lets move on to the navigation. The website's subtitle -A Music Project By Danny kamhaji- give you enough clue to know what this site will offer.

As i mentioned earlier, this website devided by 5 sections, which is: "main" page, "bio" page, "music" page, "mix" page, "links" page. The designer of this site think carefully in the web structure planning. Not too much content, but still can speak confidentially for itself.

The main page servelike other main page in other websites, its a place to start your "journey" inside a website and it also contain "news" for a quick references for the user to know the latest update. But one thing i dont really get is why they put the "contact" link inthe main page, at the edge of the page, same colour with the background and not stand out at all.. It gives me an impressions of "i dont want people to give a feedback to me, so i put the contact link hidden in the page...main page..."

The next page is a bio page. Yes, it talking about the designer's profile. Showing you and giving you more detal information . And i think they more suitable put the contact link in this page. The graphic and content not really big, so it automatically create a "space" for a link to be seen.

The 3rd and 4th page i think where the main purposes are. Showcasing his mixed music. Where the user can listen to the music. This 2 pages is not really the same actually (its a tricky part for the designer to design..), because one is mainly about his music (music page) the other one is offering the user a track where they can download and mix they own self (mix page). This small detail and offer will eventually grab attention, because he inspired the user with his music than offer them like "wanna create one also?here i have a sample for you to start with.."

The last page -links page- is giving the user a links that he found interesting and have a contribution to this website, so maybe you want to check the out an get inspired by them also!

Thats the main flow this website in my opinions.

martha stewart vs delight.com

First i'm gonna do the analyse to Martha Stewart's website.

As you can see this website is full of content..and in my opinion they cover too much already. The 1st time i visit this website was making me so confuse, even they organize the content based on the type of the content but still its very crowded and confusing. Maybe if they have a lot of content (a lot of contents with totaly different ground!) rthey should create another website to handle another things (ground).

For the navigation system, they use a usual button placement..which look abit boring, but they overcome with a nicely use of colour. Each section have they own colour. Yea the only thing thet i like in this website is only the colour, very "family's" colour which is suit the contents.

Overall it looks too crowded...really...

*But lucky they put "search" to help the user to find what they looking for.

Not much to say for Martha Steward's website, now continue to delight.com.

Compare to Marta Stewart's website, delight.com is more organize, maybe i think because they more focus to one purpose ---> selling items.

Navigation system abit hidden at the fiet time, because they put it under the (for me..) quite big image, and no separate between the menu.

For the content they do a nice job by high-lighting an important sentence. So its easierfor user to recognize.

Another thing that good in this website is the consistancy in the layout. Using 2 columns for the above the fold and a single column for bellow the fold.

Okay.. Its been a long time already not posting any blog.. because at CNY just wanna rest all day...umm, not really all day..argh!nevermind, just start with my analysis, okay?!..

I'll start with netdiver.net first..

First of all the thing that shout to you about the content of this web page is its header ---> "(we) LUV everything design" in a high-class blue colour box that stand out in a black background. So a this stage you will set your mind to recieve all about arts.

Next about the navigation system... I think for a design website is not really "design" yet, for me its just looks like an ordinary corp. website because of its left-to-right button arrangement. But because of its simplicity of a button arrangement, it will not confuse the first time user.

ngg..but too much button also not a good idea. Maybe they can put the type of an artwork into 1 menu, and after you rollover the menu button than the whole sets (flashware, illustration, etc..) will come out..

As you scroll down (it is a long page...), you will see the news update, an artwork, and a screen shot or a thumbnail to support the news or information. Hierarchy is nice, with using only a simple grid line system (2 columns), which again a not very "design" for a design website. This grid system applied in every pages.

Ok, so the conclusion for this website is; main focus is about news and updating events in an art industries, but not on the artwork itself. This site is more to a place to put link to the artists website.

Owh, 1 more thing i very like from this website is the colour they use ^^

Next, deviant art..

First page that they will show you when you enter this website is the newest updated artwork by the members.

As you can see from the screen shots, the arrangement of the contents are very clear, with a nice chunking contents (devide into a categories).

Navigation system they use for this website is using an icon to support the text. So you can easily recognize it.

Unlike netdiver, deviant art is more to a artwork submission website, where the member can submit they own design to view online. From the main menu, you can click one of the thumbnails to view its detail..

Hmm, the colour they use is not as interesting as netdiver.. =p

So the conclusion for ths website is, quite "design" but with a boring colour..And different from netdiver, deviat art is more to an online gallery than a news.

My god!this week we all MM0681 students are very tired!having alot of assignments to complete before deadlines coming!!but at least, we can finished the digital media's walking project with a not so bad outcome la, yesterday nite i can see abit of smile in everybody's tired face (terutama selvia!ahahh xD)

After watching an incredible, n crazy movie with Sweii and the others at class -MM Lab1- today we had a sharing session, talking about what really influences us in our live and also in the style of how we doing our work.. From there we more understand and respect each others lah, and the more important things is we more understand ourself!! xD

Ok, so what I jus realize about my self is how much my father influenced my self and my work (yeap, not music..mybe the 2nd one..) Hes a doctor, for sure he like a reeaallly clean and tidy stuf like, u know arrange a books in a cabinet in proper position and things like that.. So now i have my self a really perfectionist person (thx Chris for the word "perfectionist"!hee..) mind about a really small detail, and clean finishing..

Awrite, our next step is to create an artwork that best represent our influence -in my case my father, with all the details and clean looking atrwork- up until now i have 1 idea of creating a jigsaw puzzle, why? because u know this game u must do carefully and patient, really look into the detail and from there u can slowly build the whole picture.. But even though u have the detail of the picture already if u do it in a messy way u still cant finish it,right?! then u must do it in a clean way!

I still work on developing this basic idea hope it can create into a "Big Idea"! xD

"Soul Piercing"

Okay, today we had a critic session for a Web design 1 class about our project "If I'm an Undertaker".. So after a short discussions with Joanne and Sook Chiung I got a clearer idea about what is this project gonna look like, so its going to be like promoting the job, in my case 'Undertaker", to the user through my point of view.. Telling them about my lifestyle as an Undertaker, diary maybe like telling a special case during im doing my job, and ofcourse to tell my profile! ^^'

The updated version of my story is gonna be like;

I am Jax, and I am the Undertaker, who lived in a Sector 07 area, a place where people think its slum, but i called it home.. I am the Undertaker, handleing a special case which is I'm the only one can do it - "Soul Piercing"! With the help of my special gear "Peacemaker" a revolver-like guns that I use to pierce someone's soul out of their body..

I mentioned before that im handleing a special case like for those who died in an accident or others bad thing happened before they died.. We are believe those persons who died in a suffer will cannot go to heaven, they soul will remain in body, because its not the "time" yet, for them to died peacefuly, but it more like sumthing bad happen to force they die.. Thats why my gear is called Peacemaker!

For us the peaceful death is only cause by age..

So thats basicly about the story of my life. For the website im thinking of doing sumthing like introduce my job to everyone (users) because its a rare, umm... never happen before actually.. And share about my lifestyle as an Undertaker, how am i diong this job, the history why im doing it now, and how do other peoples treat me (eventhough i lived here since i was born, but people still think that -after that day- im a stranger..)

Story telling time, and for today im gonna tell a story about a guy named Jax, and hes job is 'Undertrker'!

Awrite, the story is begin when Jax was only still 20yr-old -a boy who lived in a small country that the peoples inside are really believe about the 'others', u know ghost and spirit, something like that- when one of they leader died in a car accident..

In Saturday morning, everybody quiet, and some also crying, held an event in the leader's house to pray for him, save in his afterlife thingy..

His body was laid on a long table and coverd with a white clothes..

And than, this guy, Jax, even though hes already 20yr-old, but still he likes to do something like a kid, but no wonder la becus he is the only son in his family..

Ok, then he ACCIDENTALLY (thats what he said..) open the clothes! And make the helpless body fell to the floor!! Everybody run like crazy to go outside of that house! Some of them run because shocked looking at the crushed face and some others are yelling; "ITS A BAD SIGN FROM THE 'OTHERS'!!"

Started from that day, all the peoples in that small country called Jax as the "Messanger To The Down", because they believe the leader choose Jax to sent (actually only accident..) his body to the ground.. And they were agree to make him to do it in the rest of his life!

Its like curse to him, because he has to take care when someone died in that small country.. All of them.. It means he CANT die b4 everybody died 1st!!

Hmm, thats a long story i know.. Never ending story actually ^^' And for the website it self, im planing to put like Time Line (reference layout from my last post in http://www.wk.com/) to represent his diary and some of his experienced if got something special happen.. Profile, the place to type history of his life..

Ok, thats the only thing i can think of right now, and some more this is still only a draft/ rough guideline.. And abit confusing maybe?!.. ^^'

3 dimensions!

My next analyse is about a 3 dimensional website! Yeap, its 3D!! Umm, but not the REAL 3D that poppin' out of ur screen (^^'), its more 3D in digital world..

Ok so its like this, imagine that there is a 3D space inside ur computer screen, u can do anything u want with the content inside, lyk lift it up so that u can move it to see another part of it, or even can turn it upside down to grab the content behind (becus the cursor change to looks lyk a hand here, so im using 'grab' to described 'click'..)

Owhyea!btw, this site is by Wieden+Kennedy (www.wk.com) an agency that most of the time handling advertisement.. You noe Nike's tagline "Just Do It" rite?!.. Xplain everything! xD

The main page (they called it 'Time Line') is to summarize all they works and achivements start from they 1st time build the agency (1983s) until now! (u see all those small little colourful text there?dats it!) Next?!..2008 waitin'!!

Ok, u guys mybe also have noticed that 1 thing that other website not commonly use in here is that the main menu they put it under..

Another page with different design, here i show u 'Clients' page.. Even though they (Weiden+Kennedy) not display it in a bullet forms, but it still easy 4 us to read, because of the wisely use of the tracking and the spacing..

Now, lets see about the grid system..

Upss, after i draw all the grid line in this page, i found 2 errors there; both because of the overposition of the content to the title and search box bellow.. Well yea, its not thet distracting, but because the overall design is aBIT blocky, so yea.. atleast thats what i think.. If any of u have another oppinions let me noe, k!

Hmm, dats it! (if u see another pages most of the time the grid is always overposition) the rest of this website is nice! ^^

Almost 4got to tell u guys, this site is soo slow loading! But can understand la, since they have alot of cool flash animations and interactivity inside.. So its ur choice; dont want to wait for them to load all its contents (n sumtimes they sed i dont have any flash player 9 installed, what?! i surf in jus now oredy?! >.<) or u want to wait for them to load everything, n feel a 3D space inside ur computer screen! xD

Umm, yea sumtimes not, if its too boring i like to jus drawing in the last page of my note book ^^'

Okok, i wrote this post because last friday we had digital media 2 class, which is learning about Flash CS3 with its newly improved Action Script 3.0 programmer-friendly (not designer-friendly), we have to do all those operations (+, -, x, /), AGAIN! But i tink it will go beyond that, sumthing more challenging is comin' up!! ^^

And some more, last term we learn about Action Script 2.0, and its different with Action Script 3.0. We can no longer write script inside Movie Clip, all combine in the frame! But with it, we can write all the script more organize, cus it help us to locate the script easily (umm, theres no other place to look except inside frame actually..)

Owh dammit, but my math class its about more than a year ago!!

Hope i still can rememmber that things!! >.<

Look forward to more understand Action Script 3.0!!!

Awrite, now im gonna give an analyse to a website by Nick Andrew David(www.nickad.com), here it goes!

Hmm?!theres noting here..

But when u click..

There u have it!! A really flexible main menu, u can try to click anywhere u like la, it will follow ur cursor..

Wait, theres more.. Dont release ur mouse button yet..

Yup, u will notice that the main menu will follow ur cursor (not lyk the common one, u move ur cursor to the main menu..)

Inside the main menu u will find sumthing like (as usual..) info, print, multi, corp.. Which is all talking about Nick himself (what?!of course la!^^')

And owh yea, Chen if u read this post im sure u gonna luv this one!

Guess what inside the book?!..Pop up!! xD

Anyway, here its time to talk about the grid system..
Here im using an example of print> poppin, because each of the page have different width, but same concept..

As u can see here, i darw the grid line to make it more visible. So this website using 4 columns grid, each one contain Title, Content, Image, Description. Nice and clean layout. If u read my previous post about grid system (by Mark Bulton) u will noe this layout look perfecly balanced bcus of the golden section (aka devine section).And the last one sum extra footer down there, to tell u in which part of this website are u in mow..

Conclusion, i want to make something like this!! xD

Whoa, i totally amaze with navigation system of this website. A website of a design company. Kinda portfolio or something like dat..

Hmm, but at first, im abit confuse by jus looking at its interface, i tot it was a flight service company like dat, because they use a "map" as a navigation and a small plane to take u to ur destination, umm, i mean page that u selected..

Thats the only thing in my oppinion the negative side of this website. Apart from that it still looks damn cool!!

But yea, lucky they put sum of the words that usually airport guy use it, such as; passengers->clients, takeoff, etc.. to balanced to their interface..

The main interface showing u the map and a little fight route connected each other.. And hey u can move the content anywhere u like..

See! Its moved to the left side ordy!..

Click the square thingy over there, n u have the detail ordy! (News, About us, What we do, Clients, Our works, Contact..)

Owya, this site also provide with a nice ambiance sounds (if see on an aeroplane's presoective..)

One last word from my oppinion that can add to this website is that try to align the flying box (News, About us, etc..) on the content's left side to, maybe push top align to top of the content box?!..or maybe bottom to the line between images and text?!..just looking at the typography prespective..

Awrite, the rest ill leave to u guys to check on them, n play with the small plane!!(its kinda cute btw..hehehh ^^')

Ok, today i started doing on my web analyse project.. In this project we need to give comments to an existing website (in order for us to increase our design sense by looking at the awsome websites createed by awsome designers.. Actually i dno who created it but watever lah ^^') such as: grid system, buttons, mouse rollover, etc..

B4 actually started doing it, i began with searching what is the meaning by "grid system" itself, aaannnd i found a website by Mark Bulton that explain abit about grid system (bcus i believe theres alot of others grid system out there!!), not only 4 web but also for print (hey, who noes we can use this info for our typography class later?!.. xD).. Yea, i noe we alredy have a strong typography fundamentals, thanks to our beloved lecturer (guess who?!..) Sharon! Yeaa! xD
